Thank You! This was very helpful! I don’t have my rig yet, but am researching now and downsizing, getting ready for retirement. Stacy, you did AWESOME! LOVE that you kept in the whole part of you hooking up the jeep, With all the struggles of learning about it. That alone kept it Very real, as that will be ME soon. A learning curve for sure, but this kind of learning, I LOVE doing! I’m thinking that when I get to that part, I’m going to take a photo of the finished setup to refer to so I remember to put the cords, etc on top to prevent road rash/damage to them and make sure I’ve gotten everything right.
I’m researching class C for ease of driving, but seeing you drive Ruby made me “consider” test driving an A to see how I feel. I currently drive a truck and was very nervous when I had to rent a Large U-Haul to move to my sticks/bricks 9 years ago, but after about 5 miles felt really comfortable with it. Just like my truck, but a little higher and noisier. Even backed it up my driveway without Anyone helping me. :). I was so proud of myself, lol. I’ll be alone on the road (but not lonely), so seeing this whole process Really helped me to feel much more comfortable about being able to do it myself.
THANK YOU for the checklists! I will DEFINITELY be putting them to use! Phil is a great coach and teacher, and seems very patient in his instructions. :). I laughed at the “sailor proof” comment, as that would be me! LOL! My nephew got out of the Navy last year, and he’s made reference to that as well. I also LOVED the step by step process of getting the jeep ready for tow, on the inside. That was one of my Huge concerns as well, knowing that if I missed a step, that would be BAD! It didn’t “assume” you knew to do a step so left it out .. it stated it literally step by step, the way I need it to be! AWESOME video guys! You ROCK!
Thanks Elizabeth. Stacy is always up for a change in how we do things. We both switch up our “jobs” so that we each know what to do if one of us is gone when we needed to move Ruby. You sound like you have the same mentality as Stacy…….you will be fine with whatever you decide. Just make sure you are comfortable with it and don’t forget to get it inspected. Have fun!!!
I just subscribed today and have enjoyed the learning experience watching some of the videos while baking. I am planning to take my 28.5 ft motor home out for the first time next weekend. Thanks for the checklists. I am very short and used to ride motorcycles so I am using my motorcycle boots to drive the motor home because they have a platform (from when I couldn’t touch the ground on my bike) and a heel. Extremely comfortable and sturdy leather. Just an idea you may find helpful. And they are beautiful. Short ankle boots so not hot either. Hopefully some day I may meet you on the road. I am in Canada so it may be a little while before they open the borders again. Stay safe!

As usual, a very informative video and well taken. My wife Becky, needs to get comfortable with my duties and driving our MH. We have three laminated checklist pages, departure, arrival, and tow vehicle, that we read to the each other and mark each item off as completed (old pilot training). We’ve been sequestered here in our NC home with our Newmar in storage since March and are more than ready to travel again. Safe travels and keep up the good work.

Thank you for being so transparent. I know it was Stacy’s first time hooking up the tow bar, but seeing her “difficulties” helped me make my decision for a tow bar. I just ordered the Demco Dominator so we can tow our Jeep Cherokee behind our Winnebago View. The Dominator has independent self supporting arms so I’m thinking it will lessen the back strain. Thank you for all of your hard work putting these videos together. You guys are GREAT!!!! Hope to see you on the road sometime.

I use a foam rubber garden kneeling pad when hooking up. My knees can’t take squatting for more than a quick moment. I found some for real cheap and bought one for each storage bay. That way I don’t have to hunt for where I left the darn thing!
agree… I have one in every bay. A knee saver.
I love your RV lifestyle. Recently I also watched some videos about people living on sail yachts. This made me wonder, with Phil’s background in the Navy, did you ever consider living on a yacht sailing across the world?
Phil would consider a boat but not sure if he would sail the world or just around the US. I would not consider it for a second. I am a land girl for sure!

I remember watching and learning about setup and breakdown from one of your earlier videos. I hadn’t bought my RV yet, but when I did I remembered what I learned from your video. Thank you for making that video, it helped me be prepared for what needed to be done once I got my RV. I am a single traveler and I used your tips and tricks to help make sure I don’t make a major mistake. So far, so good!!

Thanks for the checklist! I’ve got the slap bracelets coming in today because I was looking for a better way to checklist and remembered your previous video on it. I also appreciate the info on the blacktank flush. The only instruction I found on it was to make sure the blacktank valve was open (the whole time), which does seem slightly pointless. Good to know I can close it at least for a bit.
If we are both available we will fill it above the 3rd light. It makes a huge difference in cleaning it out.

Those bands are a super idea as it seems, too often, while preparing to leave is when the well-intentioned neighbor comes for a chat and things get overlooked. I’m headed north this week beginning in that same town as It seems my air conditioners haven’t shut off for two months. Looking forward to the Cafe.
